She was preparing to bake her favorite coconut pandan cakes for a family gathering. Everything was going smoothly—until Monkey decided he wanted to help.

At first, Thuy thought it was adorable. Monkey climbed onto a stool, watched her mix the batter, and even clapped when she cracked the eggs just right. But then curiosity got the best of him. One by one, he placed them on his head, giggling and prancing around the kitchen. Meanwhile, the batter bowl teetered on the edge of the counter.

Before Thuy could say a word—splat!—the bowl fell, spilling the precious green batter all over the floor. Monkey froze, eyes wide. Thuy gasped, but then burst out laughing. It was hard to be mad when Monkey looked so guilty and silly at the same time, standing in a puddle of batter with cupcake liners still perched on his head.

Together, they cleaned up the mess. Monkey even fetched a towel and tried wiping the floor, though he mostly just smeared the batter around more. Thuy sighed, smiling. “Well, you tried,” she said, giving him a soft pat on the head.

In the end, they started over. This time, Monkey was given a wooden spoon and a plastic bowl filled with flour to play with safely away from the real baking. Thuy finished the cakes while Monkey proudly watched, now content with being the official taste-tester instead of the assistant chef.

When the cakes were done, Monkey got the first bite — and a big round of applause from Thuy. Even though he got into trouble, his heart was in the right place. And the cakes? They were perfect — just like their sweet, flour-filled adventure.
