Monkey Enjoys Art 🎨🐒

You might not expect a monkey to be an art lover, but Coco is no ordinary monkey.

Coco lives with our neighbors and visits our yard often—usually to cause mischief, like tossing fruit from the trees or stealing Roo’s toys. But today, something unexpected happened: Coco discovered art.

It all started when I set up a painting table in the backyard. I was working on a colorful canvas while Teddy and Roo napped in the shade. I had brushes, water cups, a palette of bright paints, and even a few blank sheets on the grass to catch drips.

Coco, as usual, appeared out of nowhere—swinging from a branch and landing with a soft thump. At first, I braced for trouble. But instead of going for the snacks or knocking over paint water, Coco just… stared at the painting.

His little head tilted. His eyes followed every brushstroke. When I switched colors, he made a soft chirping noise—like approval. I laughed and asked, “Do you like this one, Coco?”

He climbed closer, cautiously, then picked up one of the spare paintbrushes. I froze, expecting chaos. But to my surprise, he gently tapped it on a blank sheet—leaving behind a tiny yellow mark.

And just like that, Monkey Art Hour began.

With supervision (and a LOT of patience), I let Coco try different colors. He dipped brushes, made dots, even dragged a streak of blue across the canvas like he knew what he was doing. Roo woke up and watched in disbelief. Teddy gave a sleepy side-eye, then went back to sleep like, “As long as he doesn’t eat it, I don’t care.”

Coco’s masterpiece was a colorful mix of splashes, swipes, and little monkey handprints. It wasn’t the cleanest painting, but it had soul. And more importantly, Coco was beaming—ears perked, tail wagging, eyes full of curiosity and joy.

When he was done, he looked at me, then at his painting, and tapped it proudly. I clapped. He clapped. Roo barked in approval. It was, hands down, the most wholesome moment of the week.

So yes—Monkey enjoys art.
Not just looking at it… but making it.

And now, one of my favorite paintings on the wall isn’t by a famous artist. It’s by Coco the Monkey—a creative soul with a wild heart and a surprisingly gentle brushstroke.
