My Dog Let a Monster in Our House! đ¶đčđ
Last night started like any other. I was curled up on the couch, popcorn in hand, binge-watching a paranormal documentary with my loyal Golden Retriever, Max, snuggled next to me. Everything was peacefulâuntil Max suddenly jumped up, tail wagging wildly, and sprinted toward the front door.
Now, Max is a friendly dog, but heâs usually cautious about who gets to enter the house. So when he started scratching at the door like an excited puppy, I assumed it was a neighbor or the pizza guy. I got up, opened the doorâŠ
And nothing was there.
I looked down at Max, who was wagging his tail proudly like heâd just invited royalty inside. I was about to close the door when I heard a strange growlâlow, gurgling, and definitely not from Max. Thatâs when I saw it. A shadow slipped past me and into the hallway.
âMaxâŠâ I whispered. âWhat did you just let in?!â
Max tilted his head, totally unbothered, and trotted after the sound like he was playing hide and seek. I cautiously followed him, flipping on every light switch I could find. The air felt colder, and the hallway stretched longer than I remembered.
Then I saw it. Hunched in the corner of the living room was a figure covered in fur, slime, and⊠was it wearing one of my old Halloween costumes?
Max walked right up to it and licked its face. The “monster” shriekedâthen giggled. Thatâs when I realized: it was my neighborâs dog, Benny, in full costume from their prank video shoot next door.
Turns out Benny had escaped through their back gate, wandered over in costume, and Max, being the welcoming committee, happily let him in like a VIP.
So no, there wasnât a real monster in the house⊠but Max definitely gave me a heart attack.
Lesson learned: never trust your dog to guard the house during spooky season.
