When Dogs Get Jealous! đ¶đ€đ
Let me tell you something about dogs: they love hardâand they get jealous even harder.
In our house, weâve got two Golden Retrievers: Teddy, the older âmatureâ one (a.k.a. the drama king), and Roo, the playful baby of the family. Usually, theyâre best friends⊠until one of them thinks theyâre not getting enough attention.
Last week, I was sitting on the couch with Roo curled up beside me. She had just learned a new trick, so naturally, she was basking in praise, treats, and about 50,000 âgood girl!âs. Teddy watched from across the room, silently⊠judging.
At first, he pretended not to care. But then the theatrics began.
Stage 1: The Sighing.
Loud, dramatic, over-the-top sighs from Teddyâs corner, like he was starring in a soap opera.
Stage 2: The Toy Parade.
He brought over every toy he could findâball, squeaky duck, even the limp old teddy bear from when he was a puppyâand dropped them at my feet, one by one, staring at me like, âRemember me? The original good dog?â
Stage 3: The Ultimate Jealous MoveâŠ
Teddy jumped between Roo and me, sat down like a brick wall, and nudged my arm until I scratched behind his ears. Roo gave him a look like, âSeriously, bro?â and Teddy just smirked, soaking in the attention like he just won the love Olympics.
Of course, I ended up with one dog on each side, both trying to out-snuggle the other like it was a cuddle competition. The only winner? Meâwith double the fluff, kisses, and chaos.
Dogs getting jealous is real. And in our home, itâs not just about attentionâitâs about being your number one fan⊠and making sure you never forget it.
