Elf on the Shelf Is Back! 🎄🎁🐶
It’s that time of year again—twinkling lights, peppermint everything, and the return of the one creature that causes more holiday chaos than joy in our house: the Elf on the Shelf.
This morning, I walked into the living room to find the elf sitting on the mantel… where he definitely wasn’t the night before. Beside him? A trail of marshmallows, some glitter, and a suspiciously chewed candy cane.
Enter: Teddy and Roo, our two Golden Retrievers and certified holiday troublemakers.
Teddy sat on the couch, looking proud. Roo? She was covered in glitter, looking like she lost a fight with a Christmas ornament. And the Elf? He somehow had a tiny dog leash around his waist and was hanging from the stocking holder like he’d tried to escape.
The dogs had clearly discovered him. And based on the chaos, they’d had a long night.
Throughout the day, the Elf moved again—this time into the cookie jar. I didn’t put him there. I found Teddy with his nose in the jar, tail wagging and a crumb trail leading straight to the evidence. Roo had dragged the Santa hat from the table and placed it perfectly next to the Elf, like they were recruiting him for their team.
Now, every morning, it’s a new game: Where did the Elf end up? Did the dogs help him get there? Or are they just chasing him in an endless loop of holiday madness?
Either way, the Elf on the Shelf is officially back—and this year, he brought drama.
So if your elf mysteriously moves across the house or starts throwing glitter parties, don’t blame the kids. Blame the dogs.
Or maybe… blame the elf.
