EPIC AGuyandAGolden September Dog Skits! đ¶đđŹ
It all started as a joke.
One lazy Sunday afternoon, I was scrolling through TikTok when I saw a dog doing the âGet Ready With Meâ trend â but in sunglasses, with a coffee cup in its paw. Thatâs when I turned to my golden retriever, Max, lying upside-down on the couch with one ear flopped over his face, and said, âWe can do better.â
And just like that, AGuyandAGolden was born.
September rolled in with that crispy, back-to-school energy. Pumpkin spice was in the air, everyone was switching to fall fashion, and I decided it was time to go big. We werenât just making dog videos â we were making EPIC DOG SKITS. Max was ready. I was⊠mostly ready. My neighbors? Slightly confused.
Skits Week 1: âGolden Retriever First Day of Schoolâ
Max wore a tiny backpack and glasses. I played the overenthusiastic dad dropping him off. He trotted up to the front door with a pencil in his mouth, wagging like he was about to ace his SATs. We staged a full classroom scene in the living room with plush toys as his classmates. The “teacher” was a grumpy cat stuffed animal named Mr. Whiskers.
The video blew up.
By the next morning, we had 40,000 likes and a comment section full of people asking what Max was taking for lunch (spoiler: peanut butter sandwiches). A few people even said, âThis dogâs acting is better than mine.â
Skits Week 2: âGolden Retriever vs. Pumpkin Spiceâ
We took it up a notch. Max and I had a dramatic soap-opera-style argument over a spilled pumpkin spice latte. I wore a robe. He wore a tiny scarf. There was fake crying (me) and judgmental staring (Max is naturally good at that). The final scene had us reconciling in slow motion as âI Will Always Love Youâ played softly in the background.
People were obsessed. Someone made fan edits. Someone else wrote a fake trailer for a Max & Pumpkin Romance Movie. âGolden Fall: A Latte Love.â
Skits Week 3: âDog Tries Fall Hobbiesâ
This one was my favorite. We tried to see what fall activities Max could âlearnâ in one day. Apple picking? He ate the apples. Pumpkin carving? He chewed the carving tool. Knitting? Somehow, he tangled himself in 15 feet of yarn and knocked over a table.
By the end of the video, Max was wearing a cozy sweater and sitting beside a fire pit with a cup of whipped cream in front of him (dog-friendly, of course), looking very satisfied with himself.
Skits Week 4: âGolden Retriever Haunted House Auditionsâ
This was our September finale. Max played five different horror movie characters â The Bark Knight, The Werewoof, Sir Howls-a-Lot, Fluffy the Fearsome, and a ghost who only haunted the kitchen. I did all the sound effects, which involved way too much screaming and tripping over props.
We filmed late into the night, and halfway through, Max started improvising. At one point, he walked into the scene with a blanket over his head like a true ghost and scared me. That blooper alone got over 300,000 views.
