Christmas Movie Night in Teddy’s Doghouse 🎄🐶📽️
This year, we decided to do something a little different for the holidays. Instead of a big, fancy Christmas movie night in the living room, Teddy—our spoiled, lovable Golden Retriever—insisted we host it in his doghouse.
Yes. His doghouse.
Now, before you picture some tiny wooden box, let me clarify: Teddy’s “doghouse” is a full-blown canine castle. I built it during the summer with air-conditioning, string lights, and a plush dog bed bigger than mine. He even has a nameplate over the door that reads: “Teddy’s Den of Snacks & Naps.”
So when we asked, “Where should we watch movies this year?” he led us straight to his domain, plopped down dramatically, and stared at the door like, “What are you waiting for? Grab the popcorn.”
So, Christmas Movie Night in Teddy’s doghouse officially began.
We brought everything: fuzzy blankets, hot cocoa (for us), dog-safe cookies (for him and Roo), and an iPad loaded with holiday classics. Roo, Teddy’s energetic little sister, sprinted in first and immediately claimed the left corner like it was a hotel suite.
We started with “The Grinch,” which Teddy seemed very emotionally invested in. Every time Max the dog appeared on-screen, Teddy barked softly—probably cheering him on. Roo, on the other hand, was just waiting for snack breaks.
Halfway through, it began to snow lightly outside. I peeked out the little doghouse window (yes, it has windows), and the flakes were floating down gently, adding a perfect wintery touch to the night.
Inside, it was pure chaos and coziness. Roo tried to sit in the popcorn bowl. Teddy hogged all the pillows. I spilled cocoa on my sock. But we were together—cuddled up in Teddy’s world, surrounded by wagging tails and Christmas cheer.
By the time we played our second movie—“Home Alone”—Teddy had passed out with his head on my lap, snoring softly. Roo was curled up next to him, probably dreaming of Santa Paws.
It was warm. It was funny. It was messy.
And it was perfect.
Christmas movie night in Teddy’s doghouse turned out to be the best idea we didn’t even know we needed. Less about the movie, and more about the moment.
We’ll be doing it again next year. And every year after that.
Because in this house?
